Coby TFTV4028 40-Inch 1080p LCD TV. Coby was born in 1991 and started off selling audio equipment. Only recently have they delved into the video realm of electronics with DVD players and TVs. They have big ambitions, but the Coby TFTV4028 isn't quite up to par with competing LCD TVs. In terms of raw specs, it just can't measure up; it has a low contrast ratio, high wattage consumption and a small-but-thick viewing screen. It looks nice enough, but most LCD TVs these days are agreeable to the eyes. This LCD TV does have the advantage of a decent refresh rate of 120Hz for the economical price bracket to which it belongs. Coby TFTV4028 40-Inch 1080p LCD TV
We like the connection options, particularly the two USB ports. Most LCD TVs only have one. If you are looking for an affordable unit and you use USB drives a lot, this LCD TV is definitely a good pick. It also has two inputs for composite and component video cables, which goes beyond the call of duty (since, as with USB ports, most LCD TVs only have one input for each.) Unfortunately, Coby vacillated on the HDMI ports, which are the most important inputs of all. Most electronic devices related to home theater on the market these days include HDMI connections, which means that you'll need as many as you can get. Almost every other LCD TV we reviewed included at least four HDMI ports. Coby's LCD TV, on the other hand, only has three. Coby TFTV4028 40-Inch 1080p LCD TV
The contrast ratio is the lowest of all the televisions we reviewed. At only 1,000:1, it is far inferior to our top products. That alone isn't cause to condemn this unit to obscurity because not everybody agrees on the importance of the contrast ratio; what bothers some buyers may not bother you. If you're picky about high contrast, you will definitely see the shallower darks. Even casual viewers will probably notice that the blacks aren't quite as black as they could be.
